Nur Jahan, the beloved wife of Mughal Emperor Jahangir was inarguably the most influential Mughal Empress. Her real name was Mehr-un-Nissa & was given the title of Nur Jahan meaning “The Light of World”. The beautiful red sandstone tomb was built in the 17th century & is located in Shahdara Bagh, across the River Ravi from Lahore. Empress Noor Jahan is buried in a tomb not far from her husband, Emperor Jahangir. The Tomb of Nur Jahan is part of an ensemble of nearby monuments, including the Tomb of Jahangir, Akbari Sarai, as well as the Tomb of Asif Khan.
