The Islamgarh Fort, located in Bahawalpur District, is a ruined citadel steeped in mystery and folklore. Believed to have been established centuries ago, it once served as a desert outpost guarding trade caravans through the Cholistan Desert. Though largely eroded by shifting sands, traces of its bastions still stand tall against the barren horizon.
The site exudes an aura of solitude and resilience, blending human history with the vast emptiness of the desert. Archaeologists believe the fort was part of a defensive chain connecting Derawar and Marot forts. Despite its decay, Islamgarh remains a hauntingly beautiful ruin that captures the spirit of the Cholistan landscape.
Plans for restoration aim to preserve Islamgarh Fort’s fragile remains and promote heritage tourism. For history lovers, it’s a poetic encounter with Pakistan’s forgotten desert citadels.
